don't be a prezzilla

at this time of year, although its the time of giving and being with family, i think we forget our most basic of human nature - manners.

while you're waiting to pay for your last minute prizes, remember that you cannot always blame the cash handler for the lineup. realize that they had to get there before you, had to deal with grumpy and childlike customers for a full 8 hours and still try to act civil.

today i was in a lineup in a video game store and i knew it would be a while because i used to work in one. i noticed that the lady was there by herself and the lineup pretty much lined up around the store. she tried to maintain her calm but the people before me were being nitpicky and were undecided about so many things, they didn't realize they were contributing to a backup of customers.

the man behind me was noisily sighing and sipping away at his coffee. i thought of myself when it was me behind that desk and trying to maintain poise and grace, despite the growing lineup and the computers breaking down on me.

so finally, it was my turn and i bought my purchase and made a bit of small talk about how they were short staffed and i commended her for her efforts and told her it would get much better before it got much worse and she smiled (for once during the hour i was waiting) and i walked away.

just remember that we are all human.

they reduced me to this..

i could bitch and complain about certain people i work with that make my day and everyone else's day horrible, but i'd like to think i'm more mature than that and i will put it in a different perspective.

for those of you who still smile and greet everyone or even say hi or a simple thank you - dont ever stop.

no matter how hard the day is, how many times you get yelled at, how much you hear your name being whispered in the background, remember that you are who you are, you are always learning and you are human. you are better than them.

for example, even a simple hello or thank you to the grumpy messenger man makes his frown turn upside down and he is actually jovial and interesting to talk to.

never apologize for your mistakes. you make them, learn from them and then move on. you may make them again, but thats the only way you are going to learn - to keep making them until you get it. for some people, they can be burnt once and get it, and others take a longer time.

dont let gossip and nay sayers take away your dignity or reduce you to tears - you're letting them win.

always stand your ground. if you don't, people will trample all over you. be the better person.

and that is my rant of the day.

one more sorting shift to go.

being an MLA is g*y...

I'm trying my hardest not to use the "g" word in case I offend anyone using it, because using it would be using it in a negative connotation, for example using it in this instance is negative.

first off, let me clear the air and say those who have a passion for helping those who are in need are the most patient people in the world and i have nothing but utter respect for each and every one of them.

however, there are people out there who do this for nothing but a paycheck (of course i'm sure there's a bigger story behind that, but for now, i'm just going to generalize) and unfortunately for the time being, i'm one of them.

i hate being an mla.

there.

i said it.

i hate everything about it. i hate hospitals, i hate how dirty it is. i hate how i have to poke people, i'm SO BAD at poking. i'm sure there are worse, but i hate it.

i hate how i have to deal with whiny people all day - not only patients but other people in the lab. i don't want to fall into their abyss so i never say a word and try n get through work unharmed.

i hate how everyone talks about each other behind their back and even when they are around.

i failed to notice that we were still in elementary school.

i hate how people make assumptions and stick to it and never get to see the depth of a person.

i hate how my bosses get misunderstood and how miscommunication makes them the villain.

i hate shallow bitches who are so pussy whipped by their husbands/significant others that they can't make a decision on their own

i hate women who are weak and shallow, thinking having the newest, biggest, coach bag makes you a better person than those around you.

i hope one day people will realize their mistakes, learn from them and become better people.

i am counting the days until this is all over.

pray with me.

and we're back.

okay so, there was a bit of a hiatus on posting there, but i swear i'll get better at this posting thing.

so first (full) snow fall in vancouver has begun, layering us in a lovely coat of the nice white powder (and not the type lindsay would love). i've been having these crazy thoughts of doing music videos.

just for the hell of it.

should i?

i should. fuck volunteering!

so i'm thinking single ladies or maybe womanizer or diva (beyonce). im still thinking about it, bringing the old crew together would be awesome...but its been years since i've danced and i'm not as agile as i used to be so maybe i should scuttle off to some classses before i fully take this task on...i might as well throw it out there and see what kind of response i get.

i already have a vision in my mind on how the MVs would look like so it's all up here, i just need the time and the willing volunteers/dancers. =)

Wow did I find meaning in my life?

Sound Off

I want to talk a little about the hospital..despite the fact I really wanted to steer away from that topic on my blog, I'm going to talk about it anyway.

Recently, Starbucks came under fire because all of a sudden, everyone cared that Starbucks was letting the water run to keep the spoons clean/cold. Apparently wasting millions of something of water a day. Well last time I checked, Starbucks has been doing that since its inception and Starbucks (no matter how much I snub them as an ex-barista) is not the only coffee place that does it. Anyway, hearing it on the news made me go, "so what?". Now here's the deal: what about HOSPITALS?

If people saw how much paper and plastic was wasted at a hospital, the environmentalists would all commit suicide all at once. Just today looking over reports (that print out on a daily basis) I was apalled by how much paper is printed...I don't really know the count but it was at least 700 pages. from one printer in a huge lab full of printers. that's 700 pages of bleached paper just for blood test reports.

Also, the receiving part of the lab gets an average of 200 specimens an hour, every specimen is in a plastic bag, wrapped in bubble wrap and some rubber bands. We do not recycle the plastic bags. They go straight to the garbage.

The wrapping from the needles and containers and the trays we use on each patient also gets thrown away and a blood collector can see about 50 patients in four to five hours.

Now is it just a necessity to keep everything clean? Of course, this is healthcare...so...it's okay to waste all this? Is it really? I'm not a big environmentalist but working at a hospital and seeing how much they waste disgusts even the likes of myself.

Now my second gripe, there have been some celebrities recently in the news where they narrowly escaped death being caught on fire and jumping out of a plane. They ended up being treated because of their Second + Third Degree burns. Now of course, this is a traumatic experience and I wish them a speedy recovery but it makes me really sick to see that they're getting the best treatment and the quickest treatment.

There are a lot of people who end up in the Burn wards that lie there for months. There are people who are very severely burnt and most are paralyzed and they don't get the opportunity to walk out with just seven surgeries in two weeks. It reminds me of this song by Kanye that goes, "You know the best medicine goes to the people that's paid, if Magic Johnson got a cure for AIDS and all the broke motherfuckers passed away, you're telling me that if my grandma was in the NBA, right now she'd be okay?"

Just putting it out there.

What are women destined to be?

I had a thought today about a woman's role in life. Are we really destined to be homemakers and mothers? Is it a bad thing? Is it sexist?

Let's take a look at the Type A Personality woman, and for those of you following at home - this is the career driven woman. Type A is on the top of her game, head of her business, independent, and so forth.

So, let's think about her.

She has goals. Eventually somewhere down the line, kids could possibly in her goals? It doesn't necessarily mean she has to give up her high powered job in order to have children, but emotionally - will she be there for them if she's at the office?

The Type A always goes back and forth, wondering if she's giving up her success to pursue another high powered goal - children.

Then there are the women who are "Type A" in the working that secretly want to be housewives. They want to marry the Type A's they meet at the office so that they can become the 'weaker' sex and stay at home and make house.

There are the women who are all about marriage, all about children and none about ambition. Well maybe ...more so, none about career. Can a woman survive with no personal ambition?

Finally, we have the women who just don't give a fuck. They live life and they dont worry about the future. They're the elite few that live for the moment and personally, I believe they're the most luckiest women out there.

So are we really destined to be mothers and home makers?
Where can we draw the line between our own independance and the dependance of others? And when will there be a happy go-between these feelings?

art vs. tacky

i don't consider myself in the know and fashionable as most other girls are, but i sure do have a penchant for all things beautiful.

i'm not talking about a giant bag or shoes plastered with giant C's or G's or LV's to make my point and make it blatantly obvious who i'm wearing. i like being a mystery.

in fact, i like it when someone can compliment me on having great taste and can recognize what kind of bag/shoes i have. i think that impresses me the most. i don't have to slap my bag in your face and let it scream of COACH all over it..i want my fashion to represent me - ie, not a label wearing whore.

for example, to the untrained eye, any pair of shoes that bear the red sole could be mistaken for louboutin...but, unfortunately, my love for louboutin has made me quite the eagle eye in spotting a louboutin from far away. it's the pure craftsmanship that goes into it and the look and feel of the leather/suede/satin.

it's like knowing that hugo boss has a 'suit and sleek' kind of look as opposed to Guess or Roberto Cavalli who are all about the wild animal prints. it's also knowing the look of an italian fashion house between a british design house. it's Versace's lines and colours and Betsey Johnson's whimsical lolita style. It's D&G's over the top look and Chloe's feminine yet practical designs.

it doesn't take a genius to recognize style and it surely doesn't mean you have to break the bank to wear it. just adapt it to your own style and make it your own.

but if there's one thing i want you to take away from this post, it would be DO NOT BUY FAKE THINGS.

you're aiding child slavery, cheap labour and a giant drug/prostitution ring in asia that thrives on fake handbags, fake cell phones, pirated video games and movies and lots more.

i know everyone wants to have a Louis Vuitton bag (blah) but really, is it worth your $80 to get a knock off when the child who stitched the fake one for you is not even being paid for their labour? think about it.

Seriously, another Crank is coming next year.

Here's the premise: Chev Chelios must find the Chinese gangster who has stolen his indestructable heart and replaced it with a battery that must be recharged.

We're also seeing the likes of X-Men Origins: Wolverine (if it ever makes it out of post production, looks like no one is happy with its outcome).

And we have good ol' GI Joe..starring Sienna Miller...wait, isn't she that dumpy British actor who was so hot until she started fucking up her own life? Hmm.

Dragonball Z will also be coming out next year as well...so we have a full year of craptastic films to look forward to!

why people get married/have babies all at the same time..

knowing me, i'll probably get some heat for writing this, but dang y'alls, this is my blog. this isn't a jealous rant because i love my friends and are super excited for all of them who are movin' on up the life ladder, but i wanted to take a look at the phenomenon that is group marriage.

it seems to me that when one person becomes engaged, the flood gates open and everyone in that circle of friends does too. why does this happen? is it some sort of female testosterone thing where 'anything you can do, i can do better'? or is it because they're scared of being the only one left?

there's no greater pressure than being one of the 'last' one to marry in your group of friends.
in fact, sometimes it makes you wonder if there's something wrong with you. am i not attractive enough? am i not the marrying type?

and of course boyfriends or significant others roll their eyes to the thought of it and wonder why you're starting to buy wedding magazines - but even then, they can feel a little under the heat too.

i think the best way to counteract all these feelings of guilt and self consciousness is to embrace yourself (no, not physically but if you want to, go ahead, no one's watching). remember who you are and why you're at the point in your life and realize that there are bigger things in store for you. some people get it early, some people get it later on in life, but it sure doesn't mean you won't ever.

in addition to this wedding craze, there is also the baby craze. when you've past the stage of marriage, its time to move on to the babies. and when friends have babies, everyone starts having babies.

this i can see as a more realistic situation because your kids can grow up and play with your friends kids, but at the same time, it's still a lot of pressure. unnecessary pressure that probably wont help your plans of conception along. people have to just relax and let it go and then you'll pop one out.

Narcisstic and making the rich richer..

There are reports that people who are on the website consistently are narcissistic (thanks for stating the obvious, peeps!) and guess what? This 24 year old Harvard dropout's net worth is ...

1.5 BILLION.

That's right. So next time you're on fuckbook, remember you're making the rich richer you narcissistic bastard.

Halloween Is Around the Corner!

Why is it that girls' costumes are always so slutty? Slutty witch, slutty nurse, slutty Harry Potter chick...

I guess that's all we can do, be objectified, even during Halloween. I figure I'm too old to dress up, especially since I have no desire to dress up and go dancing around a bunch of hooched up girls who think Halloween is an excuse to wear significantly less to the club. Yep.

If anything, maybe I'll dress up to work. As death. We'll see what the patients say then.

Rent-A-Bag?

So there are several websites out there where you can rent designer bags for a fraction of their cost.

Now for the conscious fashionista, that's a fabulous idea. As we all know, trends come and go and bags will always have the same structure...but it can be a devastating blow to a poor girl's wallet. So, the smart ones out there decided to share with their fellow fashionistas and rent out their bags.

So the concept is they ship the bag to you along with a shipping label + bag and you get to choose how long to 'rent' the bag. It can be up to a month, three weeks or even less. With rental prices ranging from 100-300+ /month, they do give some food for thought. If you love the bag so much you can even purchase it - they will assess the wear and tear and mark it down.

Unfortunately for us Canadians, we don't have the luxury of renting online, there is only one website we have that ships to us (shouldercandy.com) but unfortunately, they do not have the vast selection as our American counterparts do. Oh well. Just a thought.

Blackberry Storm is Shweet.

And we're back.

I've been hearing a lot of buzz for the new Blackberry Storm (was once called the Thunder)..and it is quite the beauty. Check it out:

When it makes it way here, it will be available only on Telus, which is a bummer because I'm on Rogers. Nonetheless, it's far more impressive than the iPhone.

Movie News

So if you didn't hear already, The Dark Knight is going to be re-released in January (just before Oscar season).

Why?

I'm assuming the studios want to:
a) earn more money
b) earn an Oscar nod for Heath Ledger's great performance

The movie was great but I don't think I'd spend more money to see it again in January. I think its over doing it a lil, don't you think?

Speaking of The Dark Knight, I really feel that Bruce Wayne/Batman played second fiddle in this film. The script was definitely written for the Joker. I have no problems with that, but I find it amusing nonetheless.

So they're making another one...who's gonna be the villain? I think if they're going with the more serious tones, it definitely can't be AHhhnold as Mr. Freeze again. the Joker and Two-Face were iconic Batman villains...as were the Penguin and Catwoman..but Penguin and Catwoman had their turn already, will they be reset too? I think doing the Penguin would be a great next step, I could see them making him a very sympathetic character in juxtaposition with the Joker who was just plain psychotic.

I heard they're also going to be making two more Spiderman movies. Whats with all the superhero movies?

I also heard that Watchmen might not make it out because two studios are fighting over who has rights to Watchmen...

They're also making two more Sin City's and possibly considering "restarting" Superman again (but after their box office disaster that is Superman Returns, I don't know if it'll be any time soon). They also have a Wolverine movie that has been half shot but it seems the directors and big wigs can't agree whether to make it a dark film or a light hearted film, so most likely it'll be pushed back as well.

They are also making the second (third??) Punisher movie coming out before Christmas - but I heard it sucks SO BAD that even the director is disgusted and refuses to promote the film. That bad huh?

Let's hope Max Payne doesn't take the same route. . . although it looks kind of cheesy from the trailers I've seen already.

Like I said I'll be so down for a Sailor Moon movie...so think about it, big wigs.
recently, i've been thinking about how super cool it would be to do another music video.

but then i step back and go, dee, yo, you have a gajillion things to do before you can do anything like that. so...i'll wait until october is over and see what i feel by then.

speaking of music, i am SO psyched for the Common/N.E.R.D. concert tomorrow. more so NERD than Common...but anyway, i was wondering to myself today if i'd have the gall to ask this guy i remotely know who works for the company hosting the concert to introduce me (or even better, me and my friends) to Common + NERD...but...it's been years since I've spoken to him so chances are slim to none lol. you know there's going to be pictures!

what a week! + sweaters and knits!

this week has been crazy, hence the lack of postings.

i found out i'm going to the philippines nov 3-15 and to toronto nov 17-21, that's right..one day in between the exhaustion! it'll be my first time going to the philippines so it's going to be really exciting. it is also a first for my boyfriend to be going to toronto so expect lots of pictures! hopefully it wont be too snowy.

so i'm going to do a bit of a fashion piece here since any leisure i had this week was involving shopping.

i think for the fall, its obvious that the standard fall colours are back (plums, greys, oranges, greens) - I was actually appalled by how much monochrome there is when I was shopping..I have way too much of that in my closet so I make it a habit of going for colour first.

What is really making a comeback this fall is Sweater dresses...and you know what, being a bit of a curvacious typa lady, it's a bit of a nightmare..however, it can easily be pulled off with the right cut at the top. I would definitely not recommend a 'turtleneck' top to a sweater dress unless you are in tip top shape (or you're skinny).

When I was in Las Vegas last June, I went to the outlets and bought a great sweater dress (you know you're a bargain shopper when you're shopping for next season!) from BCBG. It's grey and has silk pouf sleeves, the cut at the top is square so you get enough skin but not enough to look trashy. The only thing about it is I have to buy a belt for it because there must be some cinch to it, as it hangs almost like an A-line dress.

I've seen so many variations of the sweater dress, it definitely is a must have during the more chillier winter months.

Speaking of sweaters, it is essential to always fold and never NEVER hang sweaters because the shape starts getting wonky. Also, if you're going for those thick knits be careful on how you wash them/dry them as they can frey pretty easily...also with the sweaters - be careful you don't shrink em in the wash either (that's annoying)!

I'm also loving the new hats they have for fall, which are a more artsy look, especially those 'oversized' knit ones...see example below!

These knit hats are good for bad hair days because I don't know about you, but there seem to be quite a bit more during the winter time (must be the whole blowdrying and walking into cold air thing)

As you can see, its a very cute look. Tyra's hat is a bit old school but still relevant.

and the french hat (I never know what to call these hats), they look chic and are very in right now.

more fashion to come!

the VMAs

So I didn't get to actually 'watch' the VMAs in its entirety, but I manage to see some of the highlights. I think it was great that they had Britney Spears open the show, but her winning Best Female + Video of the Year and another award? That's a bit much. I think MTV was being overgenerous.

Pardon my ignorance but who the hell was the guy hosting the show anyway? He looks like he needs a good hair brush. He wasn't remotely funny either.

Rihanna opened up the VMA's with Disturbia..but although the costumes and the entrance was so cool, her performance was lacklustre. She squeaked out the song here and there, she should've just went with a voice over and save her the trouble of looking like she doesn't know how to sing..because we all know, Rihanna is a fabulous singer........................................right?

I wasn't terribly excited over anyone's performance this year and the only form of entertainment was when Slipknot took the stage and found a stowaway (the guy who plays McLovin in Superbad) and threatened to beat his ass.

So Chris Brown, Britney Spears, Pussycat Dolls were some of the winners tonight..I suppose this is a teen driven show so what else would we expect? I love watching the VMAs, mostly for the fashion and performances - everyone looked great but the performances were meh.

And who closed to show? The man who vowed never to do an MTV show - but of course, thats old news because he did it anyway - Kanye West. Debuting a new song he wrote two weeks ago (according to his blog), "Love Lockdown" where he..surprisingly sings? I don't know whether I'm buying his new song or not, I only heard it once. Maybe its one of those that need to grow on you, like, Umbrella (minus the ella, ella, eh eh eh eh part). But I just cant grasp the thought of Kanye singing? Maybe in his new album, "Good ass job" we'll be seeing more of it, but who knows, Kanye is always reinventing himself and at least he's leading the way to music of the future. Maybe my mind just isn't set in the future. yet.

I think people are more interested with the TIFF (Toronto International Film Fest) at the moment what with all the big celebs being up North! It's too bad Vancouver's film fest can't be as rich and posh as the TIFF. Maybe one day I might work for the TIFF!

Miracle potions and lotions...

Today I'm going to talk about some of my favourite makeup products. I'm not that big of a makeup fan - I normally just do my eyes and put some gloss on and go, I'm usually not in front of the mirror for more than two-three minutes (okay, maybe more like four or five =P). But here are some things I can't live without.

First of all, its important to always have a clean face and make sure you moisturize the dry parts of your face - not your WHOLE FACE! (unless you have an overall dry face). I've tried several products and right now I'm working with Clinique's Dramatically Different Moisturizer. It does its job, I had a better cream but I forgot what it was right at this moment.

I also absolutely love Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion. I hate when my eye shadow gets creasy after a long day and this potion works so well against it. I wore it throughout 40 degree weather in Las Vegas and my eyemakeup stayed put for hours. I know this'll probably sound gross to some people but even if you fall asleep with your makeup on, your eyeshadow hasn't budged an inch the next morning (that is, if you don't move around while you sleep lol).

I don't normally like putting foundation and powder on my face because it gets dry/oily really fast but philosophy's complete me is so great. It's mineral powder so it's somewhat better for your skin, you don't have to put a lot on either to get the same effect as other foundations. The only thing I don't like is that I have to use the same spongey thing they gave me every time and I think that's pretty gross. I guess I could by disposable applicators but they only come in those wedge shaped ones.

Speaking of mineral powder, id's bareMinerals pots are so good. A little goes a long way, I use it for bronzing but some people use it for contouring or other types of face colouring (whatever that means).

People covering other people's songs.

Who did it better? T-Pain or Jesse McCartney?

Can we suspend the fact that Jesse McCartney co-wrote Leona Lewis' Bleeding Love?

Speaking of Leona Lewis, here's her take on Avril Lavigne's "I Will Be"... I added Avril's version for contemplation.

So I don't know what's giving me carpals...

So I don't know what's giving me carpal tunnels syndrome faster, my shit ass overworked underpaid job at the hospital (let's not get into that, as you can obviously see I'm none to happy about that) - or ROCKBAND for Wii.

My boyfriend and I have been playing it religiously the first couple days when we purchased it - we were trying to finish World Tour. We did in fact finish it, he was the drummer (because he can count and I can not) and I was torn between the guitar and mic.

Rockband is addictive and if you forget about the colours and coordination aspect - you could possibly think you're rockin out in an actual band.

I have to be honest, I only knew maybe a handful of the songs listed in the soundtrack and I loathed playing through some of them - (including Metallica's Sandman...I just don't like Metallica. End of story.) but you still have a pretty decent time.

I noticed a lot of buzz about a 'sock' mod for the drum set, because, if you've played the drums with Rockband, you notice that it might miss a note or you might accidentally get two notes instead which then screws up your count royally. So the concept is to tie a sock around it - apparently it helps the reverberation problem and for you parents out there - it makes the drumset quieter - less migraine inducing.

I'm also in the process of playing Final Fantasy Tactics A2 for the DS - I love tactics but this game has no clear plot or driving story line...not to mention the stupidity of having a judge/rules that aren't strictly enforced. In the old FFT, if you broke the rule, you would go to jail and you would have to finish the battle without the person who broke the law and go bail em out of jail. But not this one. If you break the law, you lose your "benefit" during the battle which is nothing really, if you think about it stat wise and your law breakin' rebel gets to play on, player.

My sister and I had a conversation about this the other day and she mentioned that in the first FFT for the Playstation, if you were an archer, if you were higher up, you'd have a better vantage point. Or, if you were in a plot of water, then you would obviously not be able to swing your sword/use your weapon. But not this FFT! You could be standing in front of your friend with your enemy on the other side and be able to shoot at them with a pretty damn good accuracy. You can swing your sword even though you're up to your chin in water.

Lazy programming much?

My sister also informed me that they're coming out with a Final Fantasy fighting game which will see the likes of Tidus (FFX), Squall (FFVIII), Zidane (FFIX) and other characters going head to head or joining forces....um...WTF...?? I guess plans for Final Fantasy XVIII is not happening?!

Speaking of WTF moments, they're also making a Chun-Li (of Street Fighter) movie - starring...KRISTIN KREUK.

Okay.

Wait a second.

Let's digest that for a moment.

Chun "Thunder Thighs" Li Being Played By

Kristin Kreuk........

Excuse me, Kristin Kreuk is a very pretty girl and all - but ...she's no Chun-Li.

Here's more WTF News...They're making a DRAGONBALL movie, slated to come out next year. Starring someone we don't know and Emmy Rossum..who...was..in Phantom of the Opera (the movie) and The Day After Tomorrow - as BULMA! Crazy shit.

I'd be highly insulted if they don't make a Sailor Moon Movie. Sailor Moon was just as popular - if not MORE popular than Dragonball. I don't know who'd play my Sailor Moon...it sure as hell wouldn't be Miley Cyrus. Although I'm sure some of you would love to see Megan Fox steam it up as....maybe...Sailor Mars?

Concerts

There are SO many great shows coming this September! I know some people going to all these shows and I wish I could go to all of them but unfortunately time and money are very sparse at the moment for me hehe...

Janet (aka Miss Jackson, if you're nasty) - will be wowing us on Sept 10. I would seriously die to go see this show, I love Janet..I don't think there's any song she's done that I don't absolutely love!

Russell Peters and his hilariousity is coming to town Sept 11 + 12 at River Rock and Red Robinson theatre respectively.

Goldfrapp will be in town Sept 16, their new cd is fabulous, you have to give it a listen.

Sept 17 is when N.E.R.D. + Common will grace us with their presence yet again at Malkin Bowl. I am SO excited for this concert, I'm counting down the days. *sigh* Pharrell..Chad...and other guy...Let's hope the weather holds out for the concert!

The talented Alicia Keys will be performing on Sept 21 AND 22 @ the Orpheum (what a fabulous location for her!). I'm hoping to see this one! That is, if there any tickets left...

Madonna will also be in town later in October, but I'm not too excited for this one.

And I want to know WHY no one informed me that the BSB was in town yesterday?? WHY?! I would've so been there! I know I'm not the only one who knows how to the Backstreet's Back DANCE!! (skip to 3:09) In fact, I think I do it better than Brian Littrell (see 3:33)...

Katy Perry - One Of The Boys CD Review

Okay, so, we're not looking at life altering material here. There are some great tracks on her new disc, One Of The Boys .

My favourites from her new album are "Hot N'Cold", "Ur So Gay" and "Waking Up In Vegas". They're catchy, almost as catchy as "I Kissed A Girl".

Katy Perry is no newcomer to the scene, she's been working behind the scenes, writing and producing for Liz Phair, Avril Lavigne, Britney Spears and ...wait for it - KoRn. It's worth noting that some songs from teenage scandal queen Miley Cyrus were penned and sung by Katy previously.

But back to the album. "Hot N'Cold" is an anthem for those stuck in a relationship with someone who doesn't want to make up their mind when it comes to anything.

"Ur So Gay" - which has been just as 'controversial' as "I Kissed A Girl" is not a homophobic song. It's actually an EMO bashing song, with such choice lyrics as, "You're so sad, maybe you should buy a happy meal, you're so skinny, you should really supersize that deal, secretly you're so amused that nobody understands you..." and "I can't believe I fell in love with someone who wears more makeup than me..."

Katy Perry will appeal to the girls who were one of the boys and maybe to those who like their chick rock a bit catty.

3.5 Yowzas out of 5.

Sooo...after much contemplation, I decided to open up my own blog! This blog is going to be about everything that could possibly be of interest to ...everyone! I'm going to cover my two loves: Music and Movies, and a lil bit of fashion, entertainment, video games, etc. and maybe some gossip here and there.

I hope you'll take a looksee and come back while I'm getting started because as some of you know, I'm very opinionated and have a lot to say, aiiiitez?
